Bounty On Her Heart

Princes and Kings have tried and failed
To win this free woman’s heart for them
She cannot be won some say she is a restless spirit
A soul with no mate a heart with no shape

Some have offered her silver and gold
Others castles, kingdoms and pieces of land
Her loves cost cannot be summed with calculator
She takes offense to those who try

Infantile men wounded by rejection
Are driven into flashing fits of rage
Threats against her friends and relatives
Are something she sometimes endures

What is it about her some would say
That instills a propensity to fall in love
If you are clever enough to make her smile
You would be blessed to feel so copesetic

Her incandescent beauty radiates bright
Drawn from the energy of a thousands suns
Some would consider her seduction burlesque
Most however find the flavor delicious

A touch by her hand can induce a catatonic state
Lets you have the fortitude to withstand
Something unnatural and ageless about this girl
Which is why the world wants her hand with no exemption

Spitting image of a goddess turned mortal
Flowers grow wherever she walks
Feel her presence and you will understand
Why there is a bounty on her heart

Another good one

Another tour de force. I like the little embedded rhymes mid-line.

Thanks

I wait until all words are submitted, and then most of the time I start writing lines and including words, a theme will form as I write, or somethings I can see a theme with the words.  Others I have something in my head and bend the words to fit what I was already thinking about writing, but that is less frequent.

Impromptu Skits

There's a tv program, can't remember its name, where a team of young actors/commedians create impromtu plays from ideas called out by the audience.

Some theater groups use this technique to improve their ability to act.

I think it is a wonderful exercise to keep your poetic skills fresh and also stretch your imagination and creative use of words. It's almost like watching a magician do a magic trick, except with words in a verse in this case.

Improv

It was called "Whose Line is it Anyway", and yep, I akin my ability to create impromptu poems like a test of my skills as a writer.  Though I have no formal writing courses, training and don't really know poetry, I couldn't tell you what a good poem is vs a bad poem, don't know construct other than very basic "acrostic...etc".  I am very much just a freeform poet, some are rhyming.
