An Empty Theatre

Come, sit awhile, have some coffee,
Or maybe, if you prefer, a cup of tea,
Never mind your sorrows, let them be,
Heed what I say, if not my silent plea.

Come, lie awhile, with me beside,
Breasts reaching for skies gaping wide,
(Eyes shut, lips parted, slow rising tide),
Steel-smooth, silken-sweat, sweet-suicide.

Come, walk awhile, hand in hand,
Me brushing aside that wayward strand,
Forget fate, shameless unfaithful fiend,
Eternity, for a moment, caught and canned.

The tea turns tepid, the coffee gone cold,
Cataract-clouded, your eyes liquid gold,
Memories buried under layers of mold,
The movie over, theatre empty, tickets unsold.

Madhukar

I liked this poem because it had loneliness, hope and the feeling of sadness (disappointment) in form of a perfect flow. Very nice Madhukar... This deserves a 5/5

Respectfully,
Amartya

Hi

Good Work

The opening catches my attention the most...Very simple yet has deep meaning...

Come, sit awhile, have some coffee,
Or maybe, if you prefer, a cup of tea,
Never mind your sorrows, let them be,
Heed what I say, if not my silent plea.

Thanks for a good poem,

Priya Nair

I LOVE THE ENDING!

Powerful ending!  I'm shocked I'm the only one to mention it.  It begins well and closes powerful.  The old is upon us sooner than we know.  Time is a relative notion.  The ant says 24 hours seems a lifetime.  th cat says 20 years is forever.   The montain claims time is a myth by those who are mortal.  But the human comprehension was captured perfectly.  I sense a loss in the end of better times; it makes me sad.  Yet nastalgic...  thanks for that.

Yup... you are right

Mocit,

You are not only a good writer but also a good reader and I reckon therefore a good listener...

Amartya
