the ripple on the calm surface
awakens a change
a quiet tingling
that echoes along
the web of nerves
as I strain to hear it
to feel it
checking my senses
to reclaim a balance
my disbelief breaks away
with a numbing cold
as I am no longer me
as I was a moment ago
but a reflection in mirror
a separation
yet still merged
even as i put a hand up
against the mirror
my reflection confuses me
by doing the same
in this moment of distraction
do I become the other
trying to remind myself
which one is me
yet they are one
as I slowly regain my senses
and sense of self
I realize at that moment
I'm not sure
which one I am now
