The Burning Bush
The Burning Bush
Sara L. Russell 1997.
Touch me
I am the burning bush
the warm earth, the blind wanton
the place of life's beginnings
music under the maestro's stroking hands.
Discover me
I am the deep orchid
a well of peace, a spring of desire
mistress of all-or-nothing
fire under the searing breath of love.

Dear Sara,
A great departure from ur usual.. I remember discussing something with you in one of your poems...
I loved this poem.. It was written when I was 17 and wanting for love (simply put.. i was like a rabbit on heat looking for a girl).. so I can relate to it very well... well done again.. describes a teen ager well.. not sure how old u may have been then but ...
Keep writing..
Amartya
PS: We must thank you for commenting on so many poems before.. I did notice that and I'm glad you did so. A community is a team effort and poets, like you know, love to be commented on.. so please carry on with the good work..
Thanks Amartya! I was a bit
Thanks Amartya!
I was a bit older than you were in 1997 when I wrote it... but I never say too much about my age online.
I guess it was written from the viewpoint of womens' sexuality, which is a flame that is always lit - but carefully repressed, as we go through our daily lives; trying to be sensible and think about work etc.
I love to write in rhyme but sometimes I write in a kind of ordered, non-rhyming style which is not quite free verse because I prefer to have a kind of pattern in the beats per line.
Yes I will keep commenting on other poets' works... I used to run an ezine so other people's poetry is of great interest to me.
Best regards,
Sara.
