Happy Gymming!

People go to the Gym to work out or so I thought before joining one myself. Being a fitness freak and recession hitting me out of the blue, jobless and workless left me a lot of time to take care of my body.

I joined a neighborhood gym and happily wore my drab old clothes there; they weren’t bad just a tad too loose and it wouldn’t be wrong to say it was my brother’s chucked out clothes.

I got stares the moment I entered my gym. From the reception lady who was looking hip by the way, in her tight lycra outfit showing off all the fat present in her body. The instructors too were dressed similarly but that’s okay they were fit.

I got to doing my warm up when an instructor came up to me and told me, ‘Why don’t you change your clothes before you start?’

I was startled and told her, ‘These are my gym clothes. Anything wrong?’

She nodded and left off, leaving all the people in the gym staring at me and passing comments at me. I looked around everybody was dressed in their best. It was a funny sight to see an old lady huffing and puffing on the treadmill with the best of her clothes and make up.

There was a girl my age and when we started working out together, I asked her why everybody dresses so much for the gym. She looked at me aghast and said, ‘Gymming is a social activity. If all the ladies come here without their make up and clothes, it will be a conversation to remember at the next kitty party.’

She eyed me up and down as I was doing my crunches and told me, ‘You dress like an old lady though you are young. They dress like you though they are twice your age. Honey, you need to change yourself.’

I tried her advice and though everybody looked around me appreciatively as I became one of them, I just couldn’t work out in peace when my top slipped up every time I bend.

I quit now and I am happy. Who said gymming relaxes you? I lost half my weight in the stress of deciding what to wear, earlier it was for work and now it was for gym.’

Anybody wants to lose weight? Join a gym. The stress of getting accepted there will help us lose half of your body fat. Happy Gymming!

This was a good read....Somehow At time a story is much better to read than a poem...Just a personal opinion though...

This one was a good read...Made me laugh at our social standards.
